Preview

The Atlanta Braves host the New York Mets on Monday, July 6, 2026 at Truist Park for a 7:15 PM ET first pitch. Reynaldo López takes the ball for Atlanta opposite Mets right-hander Freddy Peralta in what shapes up as a meaningful NL East clash. With Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor anchoring New York's lineup, the Braves will need López locked in from the jump. Atlanta counters with Matt Olson hitting third and Austin Riley slotted seventh — a lineup with real run-producing potential up and down the order.

Pitching Matchup: López vs. Peralta

Reynaldo López gets the start for the Braves. López has the kind of stuff — heavy fastball, sharp slider — that can keep an aggressive Mets lineup off balance, and Truist Park gives him a familiar, friendly setting. His ability to work ahead in counts and generate weak contact will be the defining factor in how deep he goes tonight.

Freddy Peralta brings a dynamic arsenal to Cumberland. He's a strikeout-oriented pitcher who can be dominant when his command is sharp and hittable when it isn't. The Braves will need to grind at-bats, work pitch counts, and look for opportunities to do damage when Peralta leaves something over the plate.

Keys to Watch at Truist Park

Can the Middle of Atlanta's Order Deliver?

Olson at three and Baldwin at four carry the weight of Atlanta's offense tonight. Olson in particular will be the focal point — if he can get something going against Peralta early, it opens up the entire lineup. Drake Baldwin hitting cleanup is a spot that demands production, and seeing how he handles that responsibility against a quality arm is worth watching closely.

Managing Soto and Lindor

Juan Soto hitting second and Francisco Lindor batting cleanup in the DH spot gives New York a pair of elite offensive threats. López cannot afford to work around them indefinitely — walking Soto to face Lindor is no bargain. He'll need to attack both hitters with conviction and trust his stuff.

Austin Riley's Spot in the Order

Riley landing at seventh is a lineup construction note worth tracking. Whether that reflects a current role adjustment or roster context, his presence still gives Atlanta a dangerous bat in the back half of the order — one capable of changing a game with a single swing.

Prediction

This is a quality pitching matchup with two lineups capable of putting up crooked numbers. The edge tonight goes to the Braves at home. Truist Park crowds tend to energize Atlanta's offense, and if López can get through five or six innings limiting damage against Soto and Lindor, the Braves bullpen and home-field advantage should be enough to get this one done. Braves win, 4-2.
